From the Thornton's chocolate footballs that were a constant as a child to your unfailing and steadfast love and support as an adult, I now take great comfort and solace that you are reunited with the loved ones you have lost over the years. For a long time now I’ve missed our weekly calls, your wonderfully dry sense of humour, the endless coughing and spluttering when I made you laugh so much that you had to ring off to compose yourself, your indignation on my behalf when things weren't going well but most of all, I miss hearing you call me 'my darling’. You offered me the chance to have a maternal figure in my life when my own had long since passed and extended that love to my daughter. It makes me sad that you are no longer here but I’m thankful that your suffering is finally over. You will remain a part of me forever and I will love you forever. Godspeed Aunty Pat and god bless.
